Imortant Changes To How We Handle Your Personal Data

Important Changes To How We Handle Your Personal Data

We will soon be required, under the Health and Social Care Act 2012, to supply your personal and confidential medical information to the Health and Social Care Information Centre via an electronic extraction system.

Your postcode or NHS number, rather than your name, will be used to link your records in a secure system so your identity is protected. Information, which does not reveal your identity, can then be used by others such as researchers and those planning services, to make sure the NHS provide the best care possible for everyone.

Patients can instruct the Surgery to stop the extraction of their data.

If you would like to know more about how this affects you and how to stop your confidential information from being extracted, please pick up a leaflet at Reception.
